Maggy Down
|
On Monday, we took 25 of our closest WOW friends (Guildies) into Magtheridon's Lair. Adds were easy as pie. Time to face the beast.
Once clickers and the technnique were sorted out, we started. The channelers went down easily, the infernals were feared and trapped beautifully. Everything went like clockwork...
until Maggy managed to somehow kill the tank, due to tank healers possibly being dead. Ah well. Never mind - everything else went wonderfully. Unbroken and unbowed, the Scions tried again.
Funny how regrouping for these single big bosses take longer than whole dungeons. About 20 mins later (and possibly several cig breaks) we were ready again.
And again...
And again...
Luckily, on the fourth try, everything went beautifully and we murdered the beast. Personally I really didn't feel like I was trying to take down one of the nastiest OL bosses, it was all so smooth (helped by Submit's beautifully modulated tones whispering 'click' every now and then - you should be a radio announcer, Phil!). It was fairly easy once it all came together. I think, finally, when the big nasty bugger finally went down, only 2 people were dead.
Thank you to Nick for making us all deaf in his last howl of triumph!
Well done, Scions! Your GL is proud of you!

Scions reach 3/6 at ZA
|
We took 2 teams into ZA last night - one a more experienced team, the other, Led by Youshalldie, consisted of one or two PUGS and more inexperienced players. Both did well. Stu's report coming later in edit.
Group 1 report - by Terrë
Last night, a team of 10 went to ZA to see what they could see in the troll kingdom. We had already downed Nalorrak and Akil'Zon the week before, so we thought we'd have a shot at Halazzi, and, if we had time (and a Pally tank) Jan'Alai.
We missed the first timed event by three minutes, due to a little confusion (Raid leader Zedek says it was his fault, but we forgive him). But the big bear went down without a whimper or a growl and off we went to the gauntlet.
We thought we'd try a new tactic Arathran suggested, which involved a controlled hunter's pet (mine) which didn't work. I have no idea if we did it wrong or the fact that my cat's prowl is only lv 1, but it failed miserably and poor Loki was toast. We ran the gauntlet after a nice recovery and took down the next boss in a text-book classic fight.
Time to do some fancy rogueing... we all spent time jumping through windows and avoiding pats on the way to the Lynx boss. One wipe later, we took him down on 2nd attempt, and filled with glee, swapped tanks for Jan'Alai.
After a wipe and alot of running around like headless chickens trying to stop scouts from hitting drums (and a nice spellsteal from Martin), we got to the big guy. It was getting late by now and we were all tired, so our first and only attempt resulted in a wipe, but we're determined to get back there next week, take him down and even try Hex Lord if we can.
A lot of fun was had by all. This makes our clear 3/6 now, so we are progressing slowly but surely. Keep it up, Scions.

Group 2 report - by Stu
Zul'aman group 2 - a miss match of rejects n pugs....only joking,
Group 2 was a last minute deal to give some of our guys a taste of the future step up in the raids.
What fun it was too, with no ventrilo and a couple of pugs, we did our best and made our way to troll hell.
We did a lot better than I hoped as we killed trolls and battled on past misspull's and aggro loss with the minimum of losses...thank god for druids n battle res...still we got to Nalorakk and beat his ugly face to a pulp.
Due to the time, a few of the guys had to leave, so we called it a day happy that there one less troll in the world. As a bit of fun afterwards we took a trip to Silvermoon to say hello to the locals...but for some reason they weren't happy to see us - dont know why - so they killed us!
I'd like to say thanks to those of you that were there...and a welcome to Octomus who came along as a pug (paladin healer...whatch ya back, Nick) and has now joined the ranks of the Scions. May we have many more group 2 runs in the future.

Impromptu ZA raid success.
|
By Mithos.
Last night our guild decided on a spontaneous Zul’Aman attempt, which turned out to be a highly successful raid. Due to the spontaneity of the raid there were a few initial problems with timing however these were taken care of by a relaxed approach to our starting time. Approximately an hour and a half into the planned time we began our trek into ZA. After a quick run-through of the different mob pulls coming up to the first boss by John (Zedek) we headed towards our first group of mobs. Luckily our CC, Gabriel and Kruela, were on the ball as the initial pull aggroed two groups. (yes, our CC involved two warlocks chain-fearing the mobs). All went well up until the final pull before the first boss. At this time we wiped twice, however that was not due to any particular faults but a mere lack of experience. The first boss was an interesting fight. Many of us had not attempted it before and we were lucky enough to one shot him under incredible circumstances. (Aka the MT (Snufkin) dieing mid fight and being resurrected to continue his duties) Mithos was lucky enough to win the Jungle Stompers
The second part of the instance was the gauntlet running up to the second boss which was quite an enjoyable challenge. The group set up with Mithos AoE tanking the eagle spawns and the front 2 elites while Snufkin protected the squishies from behind. After running the gauntlet up to the final mob we downed him and ended the gauntlet with our healers almost as oom as a moonkin with no cooldowns. Our attempts at this boss were not as fortunate as on the first. After figuring out the proper strategy and despite DBM’s inconsistencies with reality we managed to get the boss down to the low 30s before Mithos’ valiant attempt to wipe the party once again succeeded. Unfortunately after the third wipe the Gauntlet respawned splitting the party and leaving Maridius to be slaughtered in the middle of multiple groups of trolls. After almost calling the raid we decided to re-gauntlet and give the boss one last shot. Luckily for everyone, Mithos’ attempts failed on this last try and we downed the second boss spectacularly! Kruela won the Signet of Ancient Magics.
Great work everyone we may now add 2/6 ZA to our list. Many thanks to everyone who participated on the first successful Scions ZA run. Special thanks to John and Nick for their organization and leadership, as well as our great combo of Gabriel and Kruela for their unorthodox but highly effective CC.

Ventrilo
|
To all raiders, we have changed from Teamspeak to Ventrilo. You WILL need Vent if you wish to raid with Scions. Please download and make sure it works the day before you go into a raid so as to not waste time.
Thankyou.
