It’s been an amazing two weeks for the Scions since our last report, here’s a brief overview of what’s been going on!

13th-17th Oct
Patch week! We all hate it but it was on us. In the mayhem we still managed a few raids, but the week was mostly spent sorting out our add-ons and of course getting our hair cut! The most notable event of this week was our guild first 6/6 clear in ZA, well done to all for that. The patch set back our 25 man progression slightly but we were more than going to make up for that in the next week!

20th Oct
Mount Hyjal: Some Scions were invited to join a mostly Heretic raid to Mount Hyjal. 7 Scions in all joined the raid and having been there myself all I can say was it was an amazing experience and we all more then held our own. There’s no doubt that the experienced gained there will help us when we go on an all Scion raid there soon.
The day was finished off nicely with a hassle free full clear of Gruul and Maggy.

21st Oct
The Eye: A Scion raid group lead by a focused Arathran, and with the help of the experienced Cohones headed to Tempest Keep. After an exceptional clearing of trash it only took us a couple of attempts to get a guild first kill of the Void Reaver, and the first Tier 5 tokens the guild had earned. We then set our minds on Al’ar, the stunning looking boss bird boss. A determined first attempt ended on a wipe at 2%, but this did not phase us as after another full trash clear we killed Al’ar for another guild first kill.

22nd Oct
Zul’Aman: The guild had cleared ZA fully the previous week but a very determined Scion group headed there to not only clear 6/6 but to get all 4 timed chests. With an experienced group with the likes of Arathran, Sweetivory and Cohones we went there fully focused. I’m proud to say that not only did we clear ZA and get all 4 timed chests but we did not wipe once. Another guild first in what was turning into a brilliant week for us.

23rd-24th Oct
Serpentshrine Cavern: The guild had never set foot into SSC before, so on Thurs we made our way there. Faultless trash clearing led us to have a couple of attempts on Lurker, the fish proved troublesome for our inexperienced raid group. We were not helped by some shocking server lag which held us up. With the knowledge stored for future reference we headed back to SSC the following night for what proved to be one of the best nights in Scions Raid history. We headed there relaxed but focused with our tanks geared with appropriate resistance items Hydross the Unstable was downed 2nd try after an inital miss-pull. We then moved onto Lurker who had caused us a few problems the night before. Using our experienced gained from that night Lurker was taken down for the second guild first of the night. Our third guild first was to come in the shape of Morogrim Tidewalker who was one shotted. A mix of excellent attitude by the raid and the experience of Cohones explaining the fight contributed to a great fight. We were on a role and with raid time running out headed to Fathom Lord Karathress in determined mood. 25 minutes later and on only our 2nd attempt he was down providing the forth guild first kill of the night. Dropping the second sets of Tier 5 loot on Scions raids.
A truly amazing week for Scions with 7 guild firsts. Well done to all raiders for putting in such amazing effort to get us here. Special mentions to Arathran, Sweetivory and Cohones. Whos raid leading and experience was brilliant.

Maridius

We thought it might be fun to see how we did in The Eye and thought we'd go for the boss lovingly known as 'Loot reaver', but better known to his Eye chums as Void Reaver.

Several people did not show up, despite putting their names down, or they were very late. These people now have week bans, unless there was a good excuse.

Anyway, that aside, because of some shortages, we managed to pick up a couple of nice people from the guild Alts and also Elerion and one or two of his guildies from our occasional raiding partners, Corithians.

The trash went down fairly easily. Because it was our first time we went fairly slowly, with Raid leaders making sure everyone knew what to do before we did it. There's alot of trash on the lead up to Voidy, so it took a good hour or so to get there, but we made it with no wipes and very few deaths. This was encouraging.

The first time we tried Voidy, we made very little progress. Everyone was getting used to the rhythm of the fight. After we decided we'd lost too many people, we ran out and reset him before it was a wipe. Rezzes were done and we tried again.

Our second time was more successful. We were all starting to get the hang of things. I personally died very quickly when a stray bomb caught me as i was running away. We thought we might break a record and take the boss down in less than three goes (a tradition, it seems, in Scions), but it was not to be. At 34% the RL's again called it before a wipe.
Unfortunately, before we could all get rezzed, there were complete respawns through the whole instance, so we decided to call it. None of us could be bothered to go through all that again and it was close to our raid end time.

We are bloodied, yet unbowed. We will try again next week, we now know the fights. We now know the trash. We will move faster and we WILL bring that mo-fo down. Many thanks and well done to everyone who came, especially the non-guildies. Your experience helped us a lot.
