Malygos downed
17/02/2009 09:25 AM by Terrë.

We finally got Mal down last night. After several hours over three weeks, the beast is finally dead. My ears are still ringing from the cheers and woops from the group as that 1% went to 0. This was on our last attempt of the night. Was well worth spending staying for that last final shot.

So well done to all that came with us and had the patience for 'one more go'. Well done.

Group 2 Naxx report
02/02/2009 05:05 AM by Terrë.

By Eldriul

Group 2, lead by Eldriul has just finished its third week of raiding naxxramas, it's certainly been interesting but today they finally shone through, downing kel'thuzad for the first time, having had a troublesome time the first few weeks. On the first week the group hit a real blocker at grobulus. He simply refused to go down, and despite managing to down 7 bosses, they had only two nights on the job and never attempted military. The second week saw better progress as the group hit military quarter hard and despite a hard time on the four horseman, the introduction of a pally healer at the back helped a lot and he went down on a second night of attempts. With 10/15 down, the group was still hitting a block at grobulus.

They went back the third week, determined as ever. Everyone seemed to have geared up and with the odd chop and change they new it was going to be their week. With an incredibly strong dps team, consisting of Dcct, Nexial, Shadowlurker, Eldriul and Islanzadí, a new recruit, they hit the first 3 quarters with huge force, downing them in less than three hours. The caster tanking was done by an inexperienced back dps, but they still managed to oneshot the four horseman on this attempt. As they progressed, they managed to take down patchwerk and grobulus inside raid time, thanks to some excellent healing work by Nalen, Bruinbar and Dranitu. The group then moved to have a single attempt on Gluth. Eldriul picked up the add tanking and thinks it was probably the hardest thing he's had to do in a raid. Dranitu was in charge of the heals on him and Bruinbar did an excellent job to keep a group of 5 dps and two tanks up, having lost a healer at raid end time.

They managed to one shot gluth and on the same night went for Thaddius. There was no doubt in the groups mind, he was going down. Though it took a few attempts to get the movement right, the group mastered the fight and had thaddius down within half an hour.

The next day, the group was ready to hit Sapphiron and Kel'thuzad. The same brute force dps group and excellent healing team, managed to one shot Saph, not counting a massive server lag spike. The healers did a particularly good job on this fight, not allowing anyone to die (other than a squishy rogue)until the very latter stages. They were helped by enforcing the use of frost resist gear, having pots provided by Nalen and pally auras, giving them huge frost resistance and making it a bit easier on the healers.

Kel'thuzad was bound to be tough and though the tactics might of seemed easy, he proved to be very difficult. Islanzadí had dc'ed and the lucky Ranth was brought it to take his place. The extra ranged dps really helped on the event before the boss and they were always down quickly so that we could focus in. Having had two attempts, getting to aroudn 60%, then 40%, they decided to change tactics.

Drackov went to the Main tank, and spreading out became the priority. The adds all went down fast and the pickup on KT was excellent. The rogues got a perfect rotation on the kicks and Dranitu was doing an excellent job watching the ice blocks. At 40%, when the three adds were summoned, thedarkknigh managed to pick them up, but we were very unfortunate when he got hit by an iceblock and had just got his three adds.

It was Drackov and healers to the rescue. Somehow, through MD's and skilll of his own, he managed to pick up agro on the three adds. There was already a dps down, but the group knew that they had to nuke the boss for all they had. It was going really well, before they hit 5% and bruinbar went down. They were in real trouble, but thanks to some even more great healing from Dranitu and Nalen, they saw themselves home. Group 2 had managed the first guild downing of Kel'thuzad and proceeded to spam the guild for 5 minutes with cheers and excitable explanations of how the fight had gone.

Well done to Drackov, Thedarkknigh, Bruinbar, Nalen, Dranitu, Islanzadí, Nexial, Dcct, Shadowlurker, Eldriul and everyone else that got invovled for the odd boss fight including Cathalbrien and Cartair.

Rat Run results
01/02/2009 02:07 AM by Terrë.

Many thanks to everyone who showed up to the guild pic and also to the rat run today. A lot of fun was had by all, especially on vent. I spent the whole race watching dots going back and forth on the map and hearing desperate voices over vent much to my, Arius and Ketyor's vast amusement.

Things weren't helpled by our rats meeting someone kiting the dragon from CoT through 1000k Needles, but I'm sure it made for an impressive sight - not one you see every day in WOW.

The eventual winner of the race was Corindian, who won 1000g. 2nd was Mithos who received 500g, and 3rd was Ironite, who got 250g.

Congratulations to all of you and also to those who took part.
